Salm Partners is currently looking to hire 2nd Shift Production Partners!  2nd Shift hours are 2:30pm-10:30pm.  We will also provide free transportation to and from the East Town Mall!

SUMMARY
Performs all palletizing, material handling and recordkeeping activities related to the packing of finished product in preparation for shipping, and subsequent sanitation activities in compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, SQF, GMP and USDA requirements.
 
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Monitor packaging supplies to ensure an adequate amount is available for the shift; notify Expeditors for delivery of additional material to restock as necessary.
  • Set up the palletizing shrink wrapper, case label and code dating equipment per production specifications.
  • Monitor and change film, Weber labels, ribbon and date codes as needed.
  • Check sealed boxes of finished product coming from the production line to ensure they are labeled, taped and intact.
  • Stack boxes off the production line onto pallets, making sure the boxes are stacked as straight as possible, in the correct pallet pattern format and to the correct height per customer specifications.
  • Shrink wrap finished pallets and label appropriately.
  • Enter the pallet data into the computer system (pallet count, product information, tier sheets, pallets used).
  • Maintain the #2 Product log.
  • Make sure product is separated by code dates appropriately.
  • Move full pallets to the appropriate bay in the Finished Goods cooler.
  • Conduct forklift inspection at the start of the shift prior to equipment use; complete the Forklift Inspection Sheet verifying the inspection was conducted and the equipment safe to operate.
  • Operate a forklift and pallet jack in performance of job duties.
  • Perform sanitation duties that include the following:  sweep the palletizing area, Finished Goods cooler and shipping/receiving docks; clean walls, door frames, and support beams as time allows; mop and straighten coolers; and vacuum behind the forklift bump guards along racking.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as required.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations per established company policies.
  • Provide backup assistance on the production line in Case Pack and Rapid Pak as needed.
  • Assist the Expeditors with loading trucks for shipment; verify to confirm pre-shipment review was completed.
  • Assist with unloading trucks as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
 
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and with changing environmental conditions.  Must possess a strong attention to detail and the ability to work rapidly and with a high degree of accuracy.  Must be able to tolerate working in cold temperatures for extended periods.  Must be able to secure forklift certification upon placement in the role if not in possession of a valid forklift license issued by the company.
 
Education and/or Experience                                                
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency is normally required.  Previous forklift and material handling experience is strongly preferred.
 
Communication Skills                                                
Must possess good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.  Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Must be able to read and understand written and spoken English language.
 
Computer Skills
Basic computer proficiency is required.
Mathematical Skills                                                   
Must have accurate basic math skills.
 
Reasoning Ability                                                      
Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.
 
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the partner is frequently required to stand for extended periods, bend, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The partner is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, with repetitive motions of hands, arms and shoulders. The partner must regularly lift up to 40# and periodically lift and/or move up to 50 #.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.  
 
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. There is a wide variation of temperatures ranging from 35° F to 100° F in the various production work areas.  The work environment is wet and slippery most times. Palletizers are required to wear slip-resistant composite-toed footwear.  The noise level in the production work environment is usually loud.  Partners are required to wear frocks, hairnets, gloves and hearing protection at all times in the production areas, and cold weather work gloves when working in the cooler.  Gloves, goggles, face shield, rain suits and rubber boots will be required at different times in the course of the work being performed.
