The Training Manager works across many departments and is responsible for improving the productivity of Salm Partners.  The Training Manager determines developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions. This position actively searches for creative designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance for all internal Partners.   
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
  • Proven work experience as a training manager
  • Experience designing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Training Needs Analysis and Training Evaluation
  • Curriculum and Training Design
  • Teaching Principles for Individual and Groups
  • Knows the basic of Coaching Techniques
  • Mentoring Techniques and Performance Monitoring Techniques
  • Knowledgeable of the Adult Learning Theory and Instructional Methodologies
  • Identify and assess future and current training standards through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with line managers
  • Mentor Training Coordinators and provide vision for program development
  • Oversee training, preparing, and assessing effectiveness of training for hourly Partners.
  • Deploy a wide variety of training methods
  • Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions
  • Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, success and ROI periodically and report on them
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing development
  • Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices
  • Driving continuous improvement of the training program
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                     
This position will have supervisory responsibilities.
Experienced in Instructional Design and Multi-media Based Training. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Must demonstrate a proven work ethic, professional integrity and emotionally intelligent leadership capabilities.  Must represent the company professionally with internal and external relations.  Understanding of the adult learner is preferred.  Must be self-directed and be able to work a flexible schedule to be available to accommodate production and all Partner needs.
Education and/or Experience                                                   
A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business or related field is normally required; if non-degreed, a minimum of five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential and experience in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
Communication Skills                                                  
Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.  Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, product specifications, operational parameters, and procedure manuals, and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Must possess professional leadership and business etiquette and be able to speak effectively before partners. Must represent the company in a professional manner.
Computer Skills                                               
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess strong computer proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and the Internet.   
Mathematical Skills                                                     
Must possess the ability to calculate business and training metrics. 
Reasoning Ability                                            
Must have the ability to solve problems by applying root cause problem solving principles and methods, deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and the ability to develop and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The partner is frequently required to stand and walk.  
Work Environment
The Training Manager works in both office and production work environments.  The environmental characteristics described here are representative of those a partner encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the office work environment is low, and in the production work environment is usually loud.  There is a wide variation of temperatures ranging from 35° F to 100° F in the various production work areas.  The work environment in the production area is wet and slippery.  Partners are required to wear frocks, hairnets, slip-resistant footwear, and hearing protection at all times on the production floor, including coolers and warehouse areas.
